Shelby Silveous – Miss BCYF 2016

Being crowned in 2016 was one of the best moments of my life. That week I not only was able to represent the Hedgesville Junior Fire Department, Hedgesville FFA and the Berkeley county horse judging team, but I got to represent the youth in our community. At first I thought I would just hand out ribbons and stand for a lot of photos, but it was so much more than that. I was able to meet so many new people and see the youth fair from a whole new perspective. Being an exhibitor myself and holding the title was very tough with balancing my busy schedule, but I would not have changed a thing about that week, even though I did get ice cream all over me. If I could give the next queen any advice, I would tell her to live that week to the fullest and do not be afraid to get out there and really see what the youth fair is about. It was an honor to serve as the 2016 queen, thank you to the fair board members for supporting me this year, thank you Barby Frankenberry in all you have done for me this year, and thank you to all volunteers and exhibitors for making the 2016 Berkeley County Youth Fair amazing.
