BCYF 75th Anniversary!

Celebrating 75 Years of Timeless Traditions with Us!

A letter from BCYF President Dawn Pingley:

“2022 will mark a milestone for the Berkeley County Youth Fair as we embark upon our 75th Year Anniversary.   I hope that you will join us July 30th thru August 6th to celebrate and commemorate those 75 years of Timeless Traditions.

For many years, actually dating back as early as 1916, the annual fair was a one-to-three-day event held as the Berkeley County Fair.  There were exhibits (both livestock and “fancywork”).  Then in 1947, the Berkeley County Youth Fair was founded and remains as the annual county fair for Berkeley County.
Over the past 75 years, the fair has grown into a seven day event held the first week of August.  There have been so many through out the years that have contributed to the growth and success of this organization and they have never lost sight of the reason this organization was formed – The Youth.

Exhibitors, I challenge each of you to embrace this week with open arms and live in the moment.  Don’t measure your success by the ribbons or awards you receive, but measure your success by the memories you make.  Take this opportunity to learn, make new friends, reconnect with old friends, help others and above all have fun.
Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and the community for making this week happen.  It takes all of you to give these exhibitors an experience they will remember for years to come.

I welcome you to the 75th Annual Berkeley County Youth Fair and hope you will stop by and see all the amazing youth exhibits, have a funnel cake, watch a livestock show or eating contest, attend a track event, or simply just stroll around and re-connect with some old fair friends or make some new fair friends.  Come be a part of the “Timeless Traditions” that BCYF is celebrating at the 2022 fair!!”

Dawn B. Pingley

Artists Announced for Concert!

Featuring 3 WV Artists

Join us at the Berkeley County Youth Fairgrounds on Wednesday August 3rd at 7:00PM in the Track Area for a night of live music at the “Bringing It Back Home” Concert ??

We have three fan-favorite West Virginia artists that are rising stars, making their mark on the airwaves and will no doubt put together a concert event like never before at the BCYF. All three Nashville recording artists will be bringing their chart-rising songs to the fairgrounds for back to back performances that will BRING IT BACK HOME?

One of those artists, returning for her second year in a row at BCYF is Morgan White. Born in the Southern coalfields of WV, Morgan is referred to as a modern day “Coal Miner’s Daughter”! Her first album entitled “I’m Gone” produced TWO #1 Singles! 2019 proved to be a huge year for Morgan at the Josie Music Awards with THREE NOMINATIONS and taking home the coveted FEMALE ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR award! In 2021, Morgan INKED a deal with NashTown Entertainment! She is currently taking COUNTRY MUSIC RADIO by STORM with her brand new single, “Take Me”?

The second artist is Chris Darlington, who was raised in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Chris later found himself on the Nashville stages of The Second Fiddle, The Stage, Tootsies and Crossroads, directly in the heart of Broadway. His artistry led him to write and record nine tracks in Nashville music studios. His streaming history on Spotify reflects over 200,000 streams and 93,000 listeners, with streams in 124 countries. Currently a Deputy Sheriff, Chris released a track titled “Hold That Line” in March 2022 written about his 17 year career in Law Enforcement. His newest release “”Stay For A Little While” dropped in April to radio and is making it’s way down the Music Row charts.

Our final Artist spotlight is local favorite – the Nathan Bartgis Band. Born and raised in Berkeley County WV, Nathan grew up on his grandparents farm in Hedgesville. With many valuable lessons and skills learned that growing up on a farm in a blue collar family offers, it produced an unexpected talent found in 2014 after accepting Jesus and becoming saved. After many years of writing songs and testing them out at local venues, Nathan took his songs to Nashville and recorded his first EP Album In 2019 labeled “That Kinda Man”, with several songs off of this album such as “Coming Home” and “Cold and Lonesome” topping independent artist music charts. He continues to keep the momentum going with his band, an original country/southern rock band that brings a unique, but authentic sound that you don’t want to miss! In addition to Bartgis, the band consists of Michael Lehew, Troy Lehew, and Brian Martin. With the newest single “Country” released in March 2022, you’ll find yourself reminiscing on a 90’s country sound with a little bit of rock-n-roll.
