Eligibility: Farm Stock Classes and Street 4×4 (must be tagged & insured) are open only to Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties. Atlantic Pro-Pulling participants must sign up 30 minutes before pull starts.

★ AWARDS & FEES

  • Trophies awarded to 1st through 4th place in Stock Classes
  • All other classes: payouts per sanctioning body
  • $10 Farm Stock Hook Fee
  • Everyone pays gate admission

★ EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  1. All vehicles in farm tractor and street truck classes must have a hitch opening of 3" by 3¾". No exceptions per insurance regulations.
  2. Open to tractors with rubber tires only. No four-wheel drive, dual tires, studs, or chains.
  3. Maximum drawbar height: 20 inches. For 12,500; 15,500; and up classes: 24 inches.
  4. All weights must be safely secured. Lost ballast = disqualification.
  5. No weights allowed past rear wheels.
  6. All tractors must have workable brakes.
  7. No pressurized fuel tanks except LP gas. No oxygen.

★ PULL PROCEDURES

  1. Each tractor may only pull twice.
  2. Trucks may only pull in one of three classes (Stock, Modified, or Street Modified) — no combinations.
  3. NO shifting of manual transmissions in any truck class.
  4. All pulls must start with a tight hitch. No jerking. 2 attempts and 75 feet to start the sled.
  5. Vehicle must stop immediately on judge's signal.
  6. Drivers must remain seated with complete control. Safety-secured normal-size seat required.
  7. Vehicle must remain within course boundaries during pull.
  8. Pull is over when forward motion of the load stops.
  9. Front wheels not allowed more than 18" off ground when hooked to sled.
  10. All farm stock tractors must not exceed 3,000 RPM.
  11. 7,500 lb class: max 80 horsepower. 9,500 lb class: max 100 horsepower.

★ SAFETY & CONDUCT

  • No alcohol or illegal substances in pit area or on fairgrounds
  • Drivers/pit crews caught with substances disqualified
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct = disqualification + forfeit of winnings
  • No riders on pulling vehicle at any time
  • No vehicle left running without driver in seat
  • Drivers must stay with vehicle during line-up and class
  • Contestants under 16 must have written parent permission

★ DISQUALIFICATION

  • Loss of ballast weight
  • Excessive liquid loss (stream or 8"+ spot on track)
  • Illegal fuel: nitro methane, nitrous oxide, oxygen carriers
  • Out of bounds
  • Unsafe operation
  • Driver/crew intoxication
  • Illegal equipment
  • Leaving start line under red flag
  • Front wheels exceeding 18" off ground
  • Exceeding stock tractor RPM limit
Final authority: Decision of the Track Judge is final and shall not be appealed. Calls of judgment are not subject to appeal. The Judge may reverse decisions only with showing of reasonable and good cause.

Good news for parents: No equipment to bring — pedal tractor and sled are provided. No entry fees. Just show up, register, and pedal.

★ HOW IT WORKS

  1. Pedal tractor and sled will be provided and used by all contestants.
  2. Pedal tractor and sled must stay inbounds.
  3. Registration opens 30 minutes prior to the pull in the Indoor Arena.
  4. Contestants will register and pull accordingly.

★ AGE CLASSES

  • 4 years old
  • 5 and 6 years old
  • 7 and 8 years old
  • 9 and 10 years old

Age is determined as of August 5, 2026, or at the chairperson's discretion.

Eligibility: Must be a member of a youth organization affiliated with the Youth Fair, ages 9–21. Trophies awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class. No entry fees.

★ GENERAL RULES — ALL CLASSES

  1. Open to mini-tractors with rubber tires. No four-wheel drive, dual tires, studs, or chains.
  2. Each tractor may enter multiple classes — but only once per class.
  3. All pulls must start with a tight hitch. No jerking. 2 attempts and 30 feet to start sled.
  4. Tractors must stop immediately on judge's signal.
  5. Driver must remain seated with complete control. Safety-secured normal-size seat required.
  6. Minimum drawbar length: 6 inches from center of rear wheel to point of hook. Maximum 10 inches above center of rear axle.
  7. No pressurized fuel tanks except LP gas. No oxygen.
  8. No weights allowed past rear wheels.
  9. Workable brakes required.
  10. Must pull at position drawn — delay = disqualification.
  11. No portion may exceed 8 feet forward of rear wheel center. No wider than 6 feet.
  12. Contestants under 16 must have written parent/guardian permission.
  13. All tractors except Original Equipment class must have wheelie bar.
  14. No gear changing allowed.
  15. All contestants must have a Berkeley County Youth Fair Exhibitor Number.

★ STOCK CLASSES (650 / 850 / 1,150 LB)

  • Largest tire size: 10:55×12 (or 26:12×12 for the 1,150 lb class)
  • No cut tires allowed
  • Body style must be unaltered
  • No fuel mixture allowed
  • Hitch height stocked or below center of rear axle
  • Throttle must be stock from factory (foot control allowed)
  • Governor: 4,000 RPM maximum (checked with fair instrument)
  • Exhaust may be stock position or vertical
  • Disqualified if tractor raises more than 10" off ground during pull
  • Belts and drives must be shielded
  • Engines: 1 single, 1 twin, or 1 tri (3) cylinder original equipment. No motorcycle engines.

★ ALTERED STOCK CLASS

  • Drivers must be age 10 or older
  • Helmets required — DOT approved or SNELL rated, chin straps fastened
  • Open to lawn and garden tractors with hood and grill required
  • Up to 2 cylinders gas / 3 cylinders diesel — OEM blocks only
  • Engines governed to 5,000 RPM maximum
  • Pump gasoline, Cam II, or diesel only — no alcohol
  • Foot or hand throttle with dead man's spring mandatory
  • Locked or welded rears permitted; transmissions must have reverse
  • Clutch shielded 360° with 1/8" steel or 3/16" aluminum
  • Hitch height: 13 inches maximum
  • Kill switch required at rear, 14" (±2") above hook point, within 6" of center
  • Fire extinguisher required: minimum 1.5 lb ABC dry chemical or 1 lb halon

★ UTV / SIDE-BY-SIDE

  • NO gear changing during pull
  • Same regulations and safety rules as mini pull
  • Must be in a Berkeley County Youth Organization affiliated with the fair
  • Hitches must be securely mounted to frame
  • UTVs pull together regardless of weight or engine size
  • Helmets required as standard safety equipment
  • Excessive speed to scales or on/off track = warning, then sent home

★ ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT (≤16 HP and 16.5+ HP)

  • Mower decks required and must be operable
  • No weights allowed
  • Everything must be stock
  • Pulling in this class eliminates you from any other class
Authority: Contest governed by judge(s) with all decisions final. Judges have the right to stop and disqualify any tractor not being operated safely. Violation of any rule = disqualification.
