Open to any BCYF exhibitor with a wristband. Registration is held from 4:30–5:00 PM in the indoor arena prior to the start of the contest.
Teams may have up to 4 members. Each team uses one livestock animal — beef, dairy, lamb, or goat. Teams have 10 minutes to dress the animal in the ring. No prior assembly permitted.
After the animals are dressed, they will be paraded by one team member. The other team members may tell a story or provide details related to the group's theme.
All exhibitors holding an exhibitor wristband are eligible to participate. Contestants complete each station at their own pace. No conferring with anyone except as directed by contest officials.
Contestants must complete their own answer sheet and turn it in after finishing their last skills table. Only answer sheets and pencils allowed in the skills area — no notepads, pamphlets, reference paperwork, or phones. Contestants found in violation are disqualified.
Stations cover dairy, beef, swine, sheep, goats, poultry, and rabbits. Topics include: retail cut identification, feed and forage identification, livestock equipment, breed identification, and a livestock quiz.
After the competition and all performance classes are complete, answer sheets are scored by unbiased parties. Top 5 Senior, Junior, and Peewee exhibitors are recognized at the Parade of Champions. If two scores tie, the highest hands-on class score breaks it.
Develop leadership, character, and good citizenship. Demonstrate safe tractor operation and routine care & maintenance. All contestants must be fair exhibitors and register with the chairperson before the contest. Males and females compete in the same classes.
New tractors with standard equipment are selected by contest officials based on availability. The "points-off" system is used — penalty points given for errors. Lowest total score wins. Stopwatches are used in the two-wheel and four-wheel events. Designated judge decisions are final.
A half-hour practice period is designated to familiarize yourself with the tractor before the contest starts. No practice on the course or with implements attached.
