Showmanship

Five tiers, broken by age as of January 1, 2026. The Senior, Intermediate, and Junior winners advance for Overall Grand Champion Showman.

Senior Showmanship
★ AGES 15+ · OR PREV. INTERMEDIATE WINNER

★ AGES 12–14 · OR PREV. JUNIOR WINNER
Ages 12 to 14 as of January 1, 2026, plus previous Junior winners.
Junior Showmanship
★ AGES 9–11 (CURRENT FAIR YEAR)
Ages 9 to 11 during the current fair year. Many exhibitors start here.
Overall Grand Champion Showman
Class 01 (Previous) and Class 08 (Overall) winners advance to Round Robin Preliminary Showmanship.

Three goat divisions

Dairy goats, non-dairy breeding stock, and market goats. Each runs through age classes culminating in division champions.

Dairy Goats
Females only. Junior & senior age classes for kids, yearlings, dry & milking does, mature does. Junior champion + Senior champion + Female of Show.
★ DIVISION 03
Non-Dairy Breeding Stock
Females only. Junior & senior age classes parallel to dairy goat divisions. Junior champion + Senior champion + Female of Show.
★ DIVISION 04 · MARKET
Market Goats
Females or castrated males. Three weight divisions (Light/Medium/Heavy). Sale weight: 60–110 lbs. Sells 5th in livestock auction.

Three weight divisions, each selecting Grand & Reserve Champion + 3rd Place. Division winners advance for Overall Grand Champion Market Goat.

Light Weight
Lower weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.
Medium Weight
Middle weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.
Heavy Weight
Top weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.

BARN RULES

Goat-specific requirements

Scrapie ID Required
All goats must have Scrapie ID Tag or legible tattoo on arrival for check-in. Entered into online registration.
Health Certificate
Official health certificate issued within 30 days of fair, OR an Honor Herd certificate issued within the last year.
Females Only (Breeding)
Dairy and non-dairy breeding stock = females only. Exception: nursing kids under 3 months with mother (notify chair by July 26).
Class Entries
One animal per class. Market goats can be female or castrated male.
Born After Jan 1, 2026
Recommended that market goats be born January 1, 2026, or later.
Underweight/Overweight
Animals outside 60–110 lb range shown for participation but not eligible for sale, grand champion, or rate of gain.
