Showmanship

Five tiers, broken by age as of January 1, 2026. The Senior, Intermediate, and Junior winners advance for Overall Grand Champion Showman.

Senior Showmanship

Born August 1 – December 31, 2025

Yearling Ewe

Born August 1, 2024 – July 31, 2025

Market Lambs

Market lambs shown in three weight divisions. Sale minimum: 100 lbs. Lambs sell 2nd in the livestock auction order.

Light Weight

Lower weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.

Medium Weight

Middle weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.

Heavy Weight

Top weight bracket. Grand, Reserve + 3rd selected.

Ownership Date

Must be owned by April 25, 2026.

Tagging Date

April 25, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the fairgrounds.

Spring Ewe or Wether

Market lambs can be a spring ewe or wether. Recommended born January 1, 2026, or later.

Skin Clipping

Animals should be skin clipped prior to weigh-in on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Sheep-specific requirements

Scrapie ID Required

All sheep must have Scrapie ID Tag or legible tattoo on arrival for check-in.

Health Certificate

Official health certificate issued within 30 days of fair, OR an Honor Flock certificate issued within the last year.

Rectal Prolapse Inspection

Per WV state policy, market lambs and breeding sheep are observed for evidence of rectal prolapse. Any lamb showing signs is disqualified, tags removed, animal removed from premises.
